2017-07-27 - Seeing Evil Clearly
John 3:19 (AMP) This is the judgment [that is, the cause for indictment, the test by which people are judged, the basis for the sentence]: the Light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil.
In the last week I have read about two events of almost unspeakable evil. Why almost? That comes a little later.
One the Tienanmen Square massacre. It is estimated that between 300 to 1000 people where killed during protests. The other was a video from someone I trust very highly that showed a young teenage girl being beaten to death for a few of her organs to be sold on the black market. She appears to be one of many hundreds of such victims.
Many of these victims were (still are) Christians. The people involved in the organ harvesting are very organized and move quickly to avoid being caught. The saddest part is they attack with no regard for the life that they are ending.
We are told that we are the salt of the Earth. We are the preservative that keeps evil from just running rampant. It is probably better said that we reflect the light of Jesus Christ and evil does not like light at all. Why almost unspoken? If we do not speak for our brothers and sisters in Christ the evil will be unspoken. It will be left unfettered in the darkness. We can shine light on evil. Expect resistance.
I have come to realize over the last several years that we in America live very sheltered lives. Christians here do suffer persecution, and I do not belittle that suffering. But we have seen video recordings of men lined up on a beach being beheaded because of their faith in Jesus Christ which they refused to deny. Several nations have spoken out against this, but we as believers must also be heard. We should be heard first! Pray for and comfort the families of those who are martyred. Speak the love of Christ for a lost and dying world. Be a light in a world that gets a little darker and colder every day. We have a platform, even if it is the light that shine from our lives that draws people in.
Lord Jesus, Please give us courage to speak, to lift up Your name and your love to anyone who will hear. Help us be strong as lights pushing back the darkness so that people will find the free gift of God's salvation - mercy and grace. Amen.
Grace & Peace,
