Children are a blessing and a gift from the Lord. (Psalm 127:3 CEV)
Kids are a blessing. It's hard to relate to the above Scripture when my daughter is disrespectful, winy, or demanding. Then there are moments when this verse rings especially true. Last Sunday my daughter wanted to sit on my lap during the worship portion of church service. It was a peaceful and loving time between parent and child. It's the same feeling I get when I focus on God's attributes as a loving father, and not God, my healer or God, my fixer-upper.
For that special moment, all my daughter's attention was on me - not to get anything, or for me to say yes to something. That amazing feeling doesn't compare to the love God has for me, for us His children. I am thankful for this fact, even though my mind can't fully fathom it. The next time we feel alone or sad, may we remember the Lord sees us as a blessing.
