2017-07-22 - Where are the Crowds
Mark 2:13 Once again, Jesus went out beside the lake. A large crowd came to him, and he began to teach them.
Football season is fast approaching. College and professional stadiums will be packed with hundreds of thousands of fans. Many games will be sold out, with no tickets available for some fans.
Jesus encountered similar circumstances during his ministry. Crowds surrounded him as he traveled around the region. These eager attendees wanted to hear what he was saying, and to be healed from their illnesses. On one occasion, the crowd was so large that Jesus had to get into a boat and teach while out on the lake.
Today, church attendance is dropping. People do not crowd into churches. Where are the crowds? Has the message changed? No. The Good News of Jesus has remained the same over the centuries. Today, we are called to spread that message. Are you telling others about Jesus?
