Tonight I got out about 6:30 and planned on going for a nice long walk. After about 20 minutes I saw a new neighbor so I stopped to talk. I quit talking and came home at 8:00. I enjoyed talking but I also hated that I missed out on my plans to do a long walk. You see I'm on a diet and tomorrow is weigh in day for me so I hoped to burn some calories.
Two plans and neither went - well … according to plan.
Life is funny like that though. We make plans and then stuff happens. Things don't go as planned but over the years I've learned that when you allow yourself to go outside of your own plans that is often when God things happen. That's not a typo that should have been good things; I meant God things.
You see God doesn't fit his plans into ours. He is bigger than our plans. Moses didn't go out to see a burning talking bush; that was an interruption. Abraham didn't start a family with plans to pack up everything and travel to some strange land. Four fishermen didn't wake up expecting to be called to follow the Messiah. But each of these were willing to go along when God intervened in their plans.
What about you? Will you stray off your carefully mapped plans to let God things happen to you and through you?
