2017-02-20 - Our Freedom Maker
A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. So many gathered, that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. Some men came, bringing to him a paralytic, carried by four of them. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus and, after digging through it, lowered the mat the paralyzed man was lying on. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven."” (Mark 2:1-5)
Five men saw Jesus as a freedom maker. Their act of faith was evidence of Isaiah's words. The Old Testament prophet declared Jesus was the One to bind up the heartbroken, to proclaim freedom to the captives, and to open prison doors to those who are bound. (See Isaiah 61:1)
It took ingenuity, faith, and courage for the paralyzed man and his friends to find a way to Jesus. They didn't let their circumstances dictate the man's healing. As a result, the paralyzed man was set free. He walked away a changed man. Jesus' coming to Earth proved the Lord's power, grace, and glory.
Lord,Thank You for the seen and unseen miracles You do each day. I want You to know I don’t take them for granted. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
