[CF Devotionals] 2016-10-19 - Alpha and Omega

- - - - - - -

When you see the words alpha and omega together, what does it make you think about, other than what you may have learned regarding Greek letters of the alphabet? There is an animated movie that came out in 2010, and they use the words to describe wolves at opposite ends of the pack order. There are ministries that use the name to encompass their thoughts about beliefs stemming from Biblical truth, but more focused on a confrontational approach to conversion of the ideas to others. We have a local Realtor that sports the name, and it makes perfect sense in real estate that they want people to go to you first and last, in order that their business thrives. The same idea goes for the movie site with the same name. There are construction companies, delivery companies, a school curriculum company, and business phone systems and so on.

So in the world, there is value seen in being the start and finish of the attention of people. The difference is God is the solution for our gain and not to be a business deal, a questionable conversion method or learning thought process. Why would God do it? Simply put, for the love of His children. According to Bible Gateway.com, the phrase “His people” is used over four-hundred times in thirty-eight (of the sixty-six) books of the Bible. With that in mind, it seems pretty clear to me that the creator, who is the true Alpha and Omega, did all of this for us. My perspective of His love for me is even clearer. Thank you Father.

“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelation 1:8)

“And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.” (Revelation 21:5-7)

“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.” (Revelation 22:13)

“Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” (Psalm 100:2-4 NIV)

“The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.” (Psalm 29:11 NIV)
