2016-09-12 - More to Life
The Bible declares that each one of us is God’s “treasured possession". He has crowned us “with love and compassion.” (Deuteronomy 26:18 and Psalm 103:4) Even when we don't feel lovable or treasured, nor think we have an exciting life, God’s love toward us doesn’t change.
You and I can look past the details of everyday life, and settle on what is important: how much the Lord cares and wants us to succeed. We may see ourselves as junk, or at least suitable for the second-hand store. These thoughts are not helpful, healthy or accurate. God loves us; we are His children. We are priceless to Him. Proverbs 16:24 tells us “pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.” (KJV) When our brain remembers mistakes and things we failed to do or say, let us remember that God loves us and is forgiving. He does not condemn us. (Colossians 3:12, Romans 8:1) Let us see ourselves as the Lord does, especially during the moments when we fail.
Lord, Show me how to change my thought patterns, so I think correctly about You and myself. Change my concept of myself. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
