Jeremiah 33:3a Call out to me. I will answer you.

When I look back on times when I feel like the Lord is a bit distant it's often not God who has moved. This is not a new thought, but it is a recent reminder. If you're a do-it-yourself kind of person it is very easy to get lost in trying to solve the problem yourself. Sometimes it works out, but even then it may not be the best solution.

He may still be talking and we are so busy we don't hear Him. In this we inadvertently ignore Him - His words, His grace and mercy, and even His presence though God may be sitting right next to us waiting for us to stop and listen.

There is so much more to this verse. The part that is selected above tells a singular powerful truth. The Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit are all listening. Like Daniel the answer may be delayed but it is coming. If God is in control it will arrive in His timing.

There is one sad story from the life of D.L. Moody. He tried to pray for a man who was dying and had hardened his heart against God.

I tried to pray, but it seemed as if my prayers didn't go higher than my head, and as if Heaven above me was like brass.
Why the Lord would not hear Mr. Moody's prayers, who can say? I will not venture a guess. It is also true that Moody did pray and for whatever reason silence was his answer.

Try not to let the cares of this world consume your prayers. It happens. In the first chapter of 2 Corinthians we are warned not to let anything steal your joy.

Lord Jesus - We need to keep in touch throughout each day. The title of the old hymn I Need Thee Every Hour tells such so truly. In our incredibly hectic daily life our priorities become driven by the nearest squeaky wheel. As we "pray without ceasing" order our steps. Calm our minds and hearts so we can live for You. Amen.

Grace & Peace,
Mike
