2016-03-18 - Rejoice
Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! (Philippians 4:4 NKJV)
When does this verse say we are to rejoice? That's right - always: Not just when life is all good, not just when you want to, and when it's convenient. Always means just that always.
I do not know what is going on in your life. But I know it's not perfect; we live in a fallen world that is broken and held together only by God's grace and mercy. And yet this command stars back at us. Rejoice always!
Right now, stop and consider what things you can praise God for. And thank him. No wonder that just a few verses later, Paul encourages us to clean out our minds.
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy–meditate on these things. (Philippians 4:8 NKJV)
