[CF Devotionals] 2015-12-02 - Different Worlds

- - - - - - -

Have you ever looked down at the ground after a much-needed and soaking rain shower? Sometimes when I take my pups outside, and it’s either raining or has been raining, I notice movement from my peripheral vision. At times, I thought maybe I was over tired or just seeing things, but after further investigation, I learned more. It became clear to me that the vibration of my presence, stemming from stepping down to the ground, caused several earthworms to go from the surface of the ground, to back underneath the soil from whence they came. After learning this, I began to pay more attention, and it wasn’t just a couple of worms - but a whole community of them, retracting back into their world. It is an entire other realm of existence that we don’t often consider, as we move through our own portion of earthly existence. They aren’t of our world, but they are in it - and vice versa.

This reminds me of what Jesus told us in several places in the new testament of God’s word. Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.” (John 18:36)

He knew he had to come for us to have a chance for redemption. “And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.”(John 8:23)

And then Jesus ultimately reminds us that when we know and accept Him as our Savior that we, too, are not of this world, but are temporarily in it. “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:2)

Each world has its purpose and being on earth right now is about learning to love the creator of the universe before he ultimately takes us back to himself. His name is Hope. What a wonderful world it will soon be.
