[Calvary Chapel] 2015-09-17 - Stand Firm

Impact the Culture

- - - - - - -

Galatians 5:1 It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.

In recent days we have seen believers jailed for their faith - because they believe differently than the what the "truth" of the culture has become. They have refused to participate what God has called sin. Bakers, clerks, everyday people. They have been vilified in the press as those who drive the culture tries to take over.

How did we get here? Because, at least in part, we have allowed it.

Matthew 5:13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men.”

The church has failed to speak up, and the opposition leaders have been shrewd chipping slowly and carefully to achieve their goals. Words and ideas have been carefully chosen and sewn into the everyday conversation. As those chips have fallen in some cases the significance was not seen as serious or missed entirely.

Matthew 10:16 “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves.”

We walk among wolves today who would restrict religious practice and beliefs at every turn. They would attempt to muzzle God by silencing us. But we know our God is greater than all the plans and schemes of men. Let's season our speech with salt and our actions with grace. God spoke to Israel saying if His people would humble themselves and pray he would hear them and restore their land. (2 Chr 7:14) I believe this applies to believers today.

Humility, prayer and follow God's leading. Selah.

Grace & Peace,
Mike
