2015-07-07 - Shutdown Mode
I hadn't used my e-book reader device in recent weeks, as I had been using an eBook iPhone™ app instead. Consequently, the battery died in the reader. I have found it ironic that the battery actually lasts longer, when I'm using the device regularly; during those times, it just gradually weakens, as is normal. But when I am not using the e-reader at all, the battery dies, and the e-reader goes into a Shutdown mode.
That is similar to what happens with our faith, too. When we stop going to church, stop praying or reading the Bible every day - and fill up our time with everything but God - our faith weakens, and may go into a Shutdown mode. When we get out of these godly habits, they are no longer a natural part of our repertoire. Our relationships with God and others become strained.
Also, when trouble befalls us (as it inevitably will), we may even turn to destructive coping mechanisms, instead of to God's provisions for us. Let's all encourage each other to continue in an active faith mode.
Acts 2:42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
