2015-07-06 - What Would Someone Say?
At times, we can be our worst critics. We punish ourselves with our thoughts and words. How do you and I forgive ourselves, when we are at fault? How can we stop replaying the actions in our minds, even though you and I can’t take back the past?
It helps to realize that God isn’t the one reminding us of our past indiscretions. For Isaiah 43:25 tells us, “I—yes, I alone—will blot out your sins, for my own sake, and will never think of them again.” (NLT) God’s forgiving heart beats louder than our haunting decisions.
Jesus has been assigned, by our Heavenly Father, to be our coach cheering us on; when we fail, He is available, to encourage us to keep trying and to continue trusting. For regret doesn’t have to control us, anymore. We can begin to live in peace and under God’s grace.
Lord, I want to experience being a whole person, a forgiven person. Let this prayer be more than words, but a lifestyle. A lifestyle where I can live in the present, and not in the past - for I know You don’t see the past in me, anymore. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
