2015-01-19 - What Would a Wise Woman Say?
The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands, the foolish one tears hers down. (Proverbs 14:1)
I don't want to be like the foolish woman described above. You know, the one who tears down her household by her own actions. Why would anyone choose to be foolish on purpose? I am glad to be a wise person, the type whose work flourishes and life is peaceful (verses 11 and 30).
I feel sorry for the foolish. They aren't ones who ooze intelligence, or ones I'd run to for advice (verses 7-8). Why do fools make things harder than they need to be? Is it naivete, ignorance, or stubbornness? Who can reach them? I would, if they would listen to a wise person like myself.
It is a pity, for I suspect God has a better way than the route foolish people choose. What will it take, for people to find what God intends for them?
Lord, I can be wise or foolish. To pick one, seems like a no-brainer. Help me not fall into the trap of being foolish. Give me a level head and the ability to make the best decisions. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
