2014-11-19 - Previews
The other night, there was a full moon. I was driving across town to get home and saw a huge beautiful gleaming moon, through some trees close to the entrance to a highway I was using to get there. As I drove that road, I noticed that the moon kept appearing smaller and lower to the eastern horizon line over Read Mountain. Our home is at a lower vantage point, and so after I arrived at my destination, it appeared that the moon had never even appeared for five minutes. I got a preview of the night's full moon. I then was able to see it reappear, and if I had not been out, to me it would have seemed like the first entrance into the night, while others were already privy to it.
God gives us a preview of what being with him means. After we have chosen to travel the rest of our road here on Earth with him, he promises to let us see it all come to pass in the right timing. He reveals himself when he brings us to him through the written word. In the meantime, we show our faith in his promise, by sharing our preview with others. It can be exciting sharing things in that manner. When I arrived home, I came inside and told my brother there was a beautiful full moon that night, and we went outside to look at it. I didn't make it out with my camera to catch the whole thing, but we saw it just behind the trees, and then it was just over the mountain, a few minutes later. Something about having a preview of it made it so much more interesting. How much more exciting is it, knowing our eternal future? I pray for the strength and wisdom to share previews of God with others, in his timing and in ways that get them excited about their future.
