2014-10-18 - Calling on God
Psalm 17:6 "I call on you, O God, for you will answer me; give ear to me and hear my prayer."
Psalm 17 is a prayer of David for help against the accusations and plots of his enemies. David's foes would spread rumors, and raise doubts about his ability to govern, during times when David was low - or seemingly abandoned by God. Psalm 25 is another example of David's prayer when he was suffering afflictions for his sins. During his times of trouble, David always turned to God. David relied on God's love and mercy. David knew that God would listen to him. And David knew that God would answer him.
What about us today? Where do we turn when we feel low? Where do we go when we feel alone in life? Who will listen to our troubles? Just like David, we can turn to God, who will listen to and answer our prayers.
