[Calvary Dove] 2014-08-29 - Clearly Reflecting

- - - - - - -

Eph 6:7-8 With good will render service, as to the Lord, and not to men: 8 Knowing that whatever good thing each one does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether slave or free.

I was very tired one recent evening. It was late and I thought, "Lord, it's late and I still have work to do for You." The thought immediately crossed my heart - everything we do is for Him. To say it more correctly - every good thing we do is for God. Everything we do reflects on the Lord and His truth, just like the things we do reflect on our family and friends.

Even prominent people fail to clearly reflect Christ. Gandhi could not see Christ presented accurately due to the behavior of Christ-centered people and organizations. Biblical persons Eve and King David made mistakes, as occasionally do notable Christian leaders today. The culture today has been deliberately, forcibly changed so that things as basic as right and wrong have been completely overhauled within a generation. How much are we allowing the culture to impact the reflection of Jesus in our lives?

If we can live by Christ's question in John 8:46 there will be impact. Rough translation, live your life so that if someone accuses you of anything no one will believe it. Reflect the light of Christ. The problem is we are not perfect. The answer is to do our best to reflect the life and love of Christ (Psa 128:1), and point others to Him (John 1:25-27).

We will stumble. He will never fail us - the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6). Anything else is a poor counterfeit. A telescope and its mirror are built to collect light and present that to the viewer. The very best mirrors can take months and even years to finish and are polished to microscopic perfection. The better the mirror and telescope the more light it will collect and present it with better accuracy. Similarly we as individual believers who are active in reading and prayer take time to be refined. We will not be a finished work until we arrive home in glory, but as we walk with Him He can refine us.

What level of light do our lives reflect? Pray for each other.

Grace & Peace,
Mike
