So today is not going to be very scriptural, but I hope you'll find it informative, nonetheless - as knowing our personality type will help us, as we uncover our purpose. After all God knew what he was doing, so he created us to be what he wanted us to become.

Psalm 139:13-18 (NASB)
  1. For You formed my inward parts;
    You wove me in my mother's womb.
  2. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    Wonderful are Your works,
    And my soul knows it very well.
  3. My frame was not hidden from You,
    When I was made in secret,
    And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth;
  4. Your eyes have seen my unformed substance;
    And in Your book were all written
    The days that were ordained for me,
    When as yet there was not one of them.
  5. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
    How vast is the sum of them!
  6. If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand.
    When I awake, I am still with You.

God made you in a wonderful and special way. I'm not talking Biology, as this is not where I'm going, but rather talking about your soul … who you are. Your very being was designed and shaped by God, for his purposes.

There are many personality profile questionnaires, but one I learned a few years ago, that seems both very simple and fairly accurate, has only two questions. You can even do this little experiment with a group of people.

First, are you fast-paced or careful? Fast-paced people should move to the front of the room, and more slow, methodical careful people to the back. If you have to think about this one you are probably careful and should move to the back.

Second, are you task-oriented or people-oriented? Task-driven people should move to the right, and people-oriented to the other side.

And now you will find yourself in one of four corners.

In the front-right are fast-paced, task-driven people. We will call you the red group. You are very driven and make up about 15% of the total population. Everyone else is glad you are only 15% of the population, because they often see you as a bull in a china shop. Getting things done as soon as possible is a priority. You will make fast decisions and run with them.

Also at the front are the blue people. You are my kind of people, and shall be called the blue group. You are the fun crowd-positive, enthusiastic, and like to do things with others. You are very talkative. You comprise another 15% of the population.

Going around the room, we reach the rear-left. You are the careful, people people and will be the green group. You are slow-paced, easy-going, relaxed people. Getting along matters more than getting things done. About 35% of people will find themselves in this corner.

And last, but not least, are the yellows. You make up the other 35% of all people. You live for facts and figures, and want to carefully analyze everything before acting on anything.

You will often have traits of your neighboring corners, and can work with either of those groups, but the people in the opposite corner will drive you nuts - but you must realize it takes all kinds of people for most team efforts to be successful. For my students, I pulled a few facts about each group, but the internet has a wealth of information, so if you wish to read more, you should be able to search for "four color personality test blue green red yellow" in your favorite search engine. With some, the use of the color is different, but the four categories remain quite similar.

Until next time …
