[CF Devotionals] 2014-06-09 - What Would King David Say?

2 Samuel 11-12:15, Psalm 51

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10 NIV)

I am a husband, father, and a king. I have demands like anyone else, but also prestige.

The last thing I would need is another woman in my life, but that's just what happened - and I have no one to blame but myself.

Bathsheba is very beautiful. (2 Samuel 11:2) I could not take my eyes off her. I know that is no excuse. My sin with Bathsheba led to her pregnancy, which led me to have her husband killed. Bathsheba later became my wife.

Prophet Nathan wasted no time telling me my actions were foolish, and that the Lord was displeased. Nathan also said there would be consequences for my actions. Right there, I confessed my sin, and God forgave me.

I wanted to be cleansed, and in right standing with the Lord. I did not want my sin nor my guilt weighing me down. I wanted others to know about the Lord, for those like me, who had fallen onto the wrong path. Now that is all behind me. I have peace in my heart, and I want to tell everyone about the goodness of God.

Lord,Your forgiveness is always in reach. Alleluia!
