[CF Devotionals] 2014-05-31 - A Patient God

Psalm 86:15 (RSV) "But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness."

The nation of Israel repeatedly let God down. They worshipped a golden calf, false idols, and other gods. God frequently reminded them of their commitments to Him. Yet over and over, the Hebrews ignored or forgot God. And over and over, God had mercy on them. God even sent messengers, called prophets, to try to get the people to repent and turn back to Him. God was indeed "compassionate, gracious, and slow to anger."

Today, God remains the same. He is patient with us, when we wander from the paths of righteousness. God still loves us, even though we violate His commandments and instructions to us. Instead of prophets, today, God has sent Jesus to redeem us from our sins. We only have to admit our sins, and to accept Him as our personal Saviour.

Will you accept Jesus today?
