"The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go with Him, but Jesus sent him away, saying, 'Return home, and tell how much God has done for you.' So the man went away and told, all over town, how much Jesus had done for him." Luke 8:38-39 (NIV)
Jesus had just healed a demon-possessed man in the region of the Gerasenes. This tormented man had lived the life of an outcast, without clothes or shelter. Yet, when Jesus came along, the disturbed man called out to Him. Jesus had mercy on the man and healed him.
Now the man, liberated from his burden, wanted to become one of Jesus' disciples. He wanted to follow Jesus. But Jesus had another plan for this man. Jesus told him to stay where he was, and spread the Word. Jesus wanted this man to evangelize the lost of Gerasenes.
Today, we are still called by Jesus to spread the Good News. We all aren't called to be professional preachers or evangelists. And while some of us are called to go to other cultures and countries, most of us are called to share the Gospel where he has put us. We are all called to spread the Gospel, wherever we are. Who are the people in your life, who need to hear the Good News from you?
