Ever have one of those days where you just want to crawl back into bed and start all over? Do you ever wish life had a reset button? You are not alone. Here is a piece of what I guess could be considered a journal entry from the Saturday before Easter. That day was filled with activities including the first time I had preached to anyone other than youth since becoming the student pastor at Luthersville. Before Saturday morning I thought it would be a wonderful day. But Murphy got up earlier than me and everything that could go wrong seemed to go wrong that morning...
"Jordan whined about getting dragged to Home Depot for our male bonding Saturday morning ritual. Dana's email got hacked and we had to deal with that this morning. Because of that she didn't have time to cook muffins for tomorrow morning or homemade Mac and cheese to take to her parents this afternoon. Justin had a melt down before it was time to leave so she decided to stay home with him. I didn't have time to go over my notes this morning and was nervous as all get out. I felt nervous the whole time I gave it and blanked out at some point in the middle I think. I beat myself up over the delivery and how I had failed to punch the HE'S ALIVE parts.
And then a young man walked up and said he wanted to know about the Jesus I had spoken of. I got to talk with him for half an hour or so and share Jesus with him. After I explained things to him he explained it all back to me in his own words and asked if I would pray with him. Life is so good!!! God is absolutely mind-blowingly amazingly good and awesome!!!!
I am crying as I write this. God is so good. Satan was against me today at every turn but if God is for me who can be against me, right?"
I am glad God doesn't answer all my prayers - at least not the way I want him too. Otherwise that day would have never happened. If you woke up this morning and already wonder what else can go wrong, be of good cheer because Jesus overcame the world so with him each of us can make it through today.
