2014-04-14 - What Would a Captive Say?
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lords favor has come. (Luke 4:18-19 NLT)
In order for me to be effective for God and to live a peaceful existence, the weight of the past has to be lifted. Some disappointments and faults, even forgiven ones are starting to resurface, but I cannot let them take root. I take hold of the Lord Jesus' words that He is for me. He wants me to experience total freedom. Despair and sadness can take a hike today, for I put faith in their place instead.
I heard with my own ears that Jesus can make my situations easier. He read the words from the prophet Isaiah, but I believe He was really talking about Himself. I need to get this baggage taken care of. How glorious to imagine that the Lord can mend the brokenness I feel inside. I am not exactly sure how though.
Today, I let the Lord take over. I will trust in His plan.
God, Be my freedom maker. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
