2013-08-17 - Do What It Says
The Book of James contains lots of practical advice for Christians. James wrote this General Epistle to the early Christians, who were scattered by persecution. These new believers needed concrete information on how they were to act and live. James knew that they had heard the Gospel and knew the Law. What were they to do? James' practical advice for them was to "Do what it says."
Today, we can take the same words and apply them to our lives. Unlike the early believers, we have the entire Bible to rely upon for instruction. We are frequently reminded of God's expectations of how we are to live, with the advantage of learning about them in Sunday school, Bible study, and sermons. Like James' early readers, we, too,are to "Do what it says."
