2013-07-29 - What Would David Say?
Let your favor shine on your servant. In your unfailing love, rescue me. (Psalm 31:16 NLT)
There was a time in my life when I was in great despair. I imagine everyone goes through a season of desperation. My life was in jeopardy because jealous king Saul was in pursuit of me and not to have a friendly chat.
I told God to "Have mercy on me, LORD, for I am in distress. Tears blur my eyes. My body and soul are withering away. I am dying from grief; my years are shortened by sadness. Sin has drained my strength; I am wasting away from within. (verses 9-10) When I said these words, there was great conviction and emotion behind them. I was in distress. I could not hide this fact from the Lord, nor did I want to. I needed Him to rescue me. I put my confidence in the Lord. I did not have to remain a broken vessel.
I could not forget the benefits of walking with the Lord. I needed to wait until God brought relief. When it came, I thanked the Lord and rejoiced. I am grateful when He comes to my aid.
Lord, Thank You for strength. I rely on Your strength to see me through. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
