2013-01-19 - Whom Do You Call?
"I call on you, O God, for you will answer me; give ear to me and hear my prayer."--Psalm 17:6 (NIV)
We live in a time when we can have instant contact with someone who is a mile away, a hundred miles - or even in outer space. Texting, Twitter and Facebook, etc. have been blessings when it comes to immediately sharing prayer request, etc. Whom do you call on, when you need help? Your spouse, neighbors, friends, your pastor, your parents, or coworkers? Do you consult horoscopes or psychics? You might be surprised to know that some believers have fallen for these traps.
Whom do you pick up the phone and call? It's very Biblical to depend on friends, support them, to be "iron sharpening iron." But whom do you call first? How often do you call God first? The Psalmist tells us that we should call on God. He will answer us. We may not get the answer right away, or the answer that we want, but there is the promise that He will answer. The important thing is to ask. Have you called on God today?
