2012-12-10 - What Would Philip Say?
Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?"(John 14:9)
I don't know Jesus as well as I thought. By asking to see the Father, I assumed Jesus would be pleased with my faith. It was just the opposite.
After all the time we've known one another, I didn't understand how Jesus is the way to the Father. The fact was, I'd already seen God and did not realize it. Every time I saw Jesus, I was seeing God's reflection.
A relationship with God and Jesus is important to me, and I believe in the miracles I witnessed Jesus perform, so why wasn't this faith thing coming easily?
Jesus went on to talk about the rewards of faith. By having faith in Jesus, a person can heal and perform miracles, even greater ones than Jesus did while on Earth. Jesus will even do whatever we ask in His name according to His will. So just by deepening my faith I could have the power Jesus does? Why had not I known this before? I don't want to jeopardize my connection with the Lord, so I am going to make the extra effort to not doubt. I suppose I'll learn to practice living in faith, until it becomes natural.
Lord, How do I put my faith in You when things aren't going right? How can I trust that You will take care of things? I want to believe, so show me how to look to You instead of my circumstances. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
