2012-12-08 - Patience ~ Christmas

Christmas is a time of the year that tests our patience. We patiently or impatiently wait in lines at the stores to buy gifts. We wait for presents that we have ordered online, to arrive in the mail. We patiently count down the days until the big day. The anticipation builds, and we must be patient.
The Israelites were also patiently waiting. They were waiting for the promised Messiah to arrive. They were waiting for a mighty King to lead an army to destroy the enemies of Israel.
Yet the promised Messiah came in the form of a baby born in a manger. The Messiah was not a military ruler. Instead, God sent His Son to free us from our sins. Today, God patiently waits for us to acknowledge our sins and to turn to his Son to be the Lord of our lives. Have you accepted God's ultimate gift - His Son?
