"When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?"--Psalm 56:3-4 (NIV)
David said these words when he was being attacked by the Philistines - when his life was in danger. He was appealing to God for help. And yet, David was expressing a confident trust in God. David was certain that no matter what happened to him, he could rely on God. Today, we face many situations that create fear and anxiety.
Many have lost their jobs during the last few years, from the economy, thousands from federal governmental layoffs, failing businesses etc. And as a result, many have lost their homes. Some people face medical crises, such as cancer and diabetes. Many Americans are in harm's way serving their country overseas. What are our greatest fears? We know, like David, that we can rely on God. He is our ever-present help in times of trouble. When we are afraid, we can always turn to Him.
