"Now faith is being sure of what you hope for and certain of what you do not see." Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)
In John 2:46-54, we find the story of a royal official and his faith. This official's son was seriously ill at home and, when the father heard that Jesus was in town, he sought out Jesus. When the royal officer approached Jesus, the official begged Jesus to come to his home and heal his son. Jesus replied, "You may go. Your son will live." (John 2:50)
The official believed Jesus and headed home. His servants met him on the way home and told him that his son had been healed at the exact time Jesus told the father. The official's faith in Jesus was fulfilled. How often are we asked to have faith in things we don't see? How often are we asked to "just believe?" Let us use the example of the royal official, and his faith in Jesus, as an example to follow.
