2012-06-30 - Where Do We Turn for Help?
In our daily lives, we often face crises and difficult situations. We must deal with health issues, job losses, family stresses - and many similar matters. Where do we turn when we need help? Of course, we can go to our loved ones and friends for support. The Psalmist tells us that we should turn to God for help, when he says, "Hear my prayer, O Lord; let my cry for help come to you. Do not hide your face from me when I am in distress. Turn your ear to me; when I call, answer me quickly." (Psalm 102:1-2 NIV)
In the Bible, there are numerous occasions where God's people ran into difficulties. Moses frequently had to deal with the complaints of the nation of Israel, as they were wandering through the desert. Moses would turn to God and explain his problem. God would then provide Moses with an answer with a solution. In the New Testament, Jesus frequently would go away by Himself to talk to God. He spent much time in prayer, and He encouraged His disciples to pray too.
When we run into a tough situation, we know that we can turn to God. He is always available to listen to our problems. He hear our call for help.
