2012-06-04 - What Would Esau Say?
But Esau ran to meet Jacob and embraced him; he threw his arms around his neck and kissed him. And they wept. (Genesis 33:4)
I was so shocked when Jacob got in touch with me. I haven't had any contact with my brother for many years. I never thought I would hear from him again. Time had erased all the deception and misunderstandings of the past, and I was anxious to see him.
When we finally saw each other, I ran to meet him. After being apart for so long, I felt tears well up in my eyes. Jacob had the same experience-two sturdy men in tears. It was a new beginning.
I felt comfortable around my long-lost brother. It was so easy to fall back into conversation with Jacob, as if we had never been away from each other. I met his large family and noticed Jacob's abundant flocks; it is a comfort to know he is doing well. God has been gracious to both of us. I am grateful for our new start.
Lord, Thank You for forgiveness. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
Can you recall a fond reunion?
