2012-03-19 - What Would a Disciple Say?
If anyone asks you, 'Why are you doing this?' say, 'The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.'" (Mark 11:3)
Jesus was very specific with His directions. He sent me and another disciple to the village, to fetch the donkey Jesus would be riding into Jerusalem. He said the animal had never been ridden, and will be tied up. If anyone asks us what we are doing, Jesus told us what to say. We wouldn't have to think of an explanation - or wonder if it sounded plausible. The errand seemed cut and dry.
We found the colt. The animal was tied up, just as Jesus said. As we untied the animal, some people asked what we were doing. We gave them the response Jesus provided: the Lord needs the colt, and it will be brought back shortly. The people had no qualms with our answer, and allowed us to leave without any problems. Jesus left nothing to chance - and prepared us well.
Lord, I wish life had fewer questions and more answers. Please help when I feel this way. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
