2012-01-23 - What Would an Innkeeper Say?
"The next day, he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. 'Look after him,' he said, 'and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.'" (Luke 10:35)
I guess the guy was worse off than I thought. Beaten up and left for dead must be awful. This man is privileged to still be alive. Not many would go to the effort to help a stranger. The Samaritan went beyond the call of duty, in my estimation. He brought the injured here last night, to nurse the man back to health.
The Samaritan is a hero in my book, an honest fellow. He left the man at the inn to recover, as he went on his way. The Samaritan paid for the man staying at our facility, and said if the bill ran higher he would gladly pay the difference next time he is here. I run into a lot of different types of people, and it is rare to find someone so selfless, accommodating, and generous. I anticipate this story will be a lesson to others on the power of kindness.
Lord, I am grateful to You for bringing helpful people into my life. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
How do you plan to help someone today?
