2011-11-21 - What Would a Father Say?
"Then the owner of the vineyard said, 'What shall I do? I will send my son, whom I love; perhaps they will respect him.'" (Luke 20:13)
I planted a vineyard and lent it out to farmhands. For a long time I went away, and when I returned, I wanted some fruit from my vineyard. The workers said no, and sent my messenger away beaten and empty-handed. How could these people be so cruel? How could I have left my vineyard to such vile people? I didn't think my request was out of line. It was because of me that they had produce. I sent two more messengers. The tenants did the same thing.
Then I came up with the bright idea to send my son. This will make them show respect - and that I mean business - or so I thought. The unreasonable farmhands talked among themselves, and figured if they killed my son, they would become the heir and receive his inheritance. Like I would give anything to a bunch of murderers.
I lost my much-loved son to a bunch of money grabbers and backstabbers. These people were not going to get away with such a cruel crime. My son's life will be justified. They had crossed the line too many times. It is time for them to be destroyed and vanished from the vineyard. Now they will be the ones in pain. It will not bring back my son, but these people must be taught a lesson, before someone else is severely hurt.
Lord, I ask for divine intervention in my life. I know I will be happier with it. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
