2011-08-22 - What Would Rhoda Say?
When she recognized Peter's voice, she was so overjoyed, she ran back without opening it and exclaimed, "Peter is at the door!" (Acts 12:14)
Knock. Knock. Someone was at the gate, and it was my responsibility to let the person inside. It was probably someone running late for the prayer meeting. It wasn't. It was Peter. At least I think it was Peter. Wasn't he in jail awaiting execution? It was not a figment of my imagination. Or was it? I quickly went to tell the others, but they didn't believe me. Why would I make up a story? I am not a malicious person or a woman who lies. I suppose they were in disbelief, as I was.
Knock. Knock. Oh my goodness! In all the commotion, I left Peter, I mean, the new arrival, outside. When I opened the door again, there was no uncertainty; the man was Peter, just as I suspected. I led him inside immediately; there was such excitement. See, there was no reason to doubt me, I was right all along.
Lord, You are faithful and will never leave me. Thank You for never abandoning me. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
