2011-08-15 - What Would a Lawyer Say?
He answered: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" (Luke 10:27)
I've got a beauty of a question for Jesus. It will put His claimed beliefs to the test. I asked what it takes to live forever in Heaven. Jesus answered my question with a question, and asked me what Moses' law states. See, even Jesus knew how acclaimed I am in the manner of the old law.
According to the law, a person must love the Lord with all his heart, soul, strength, and mind, in essence, his whole being. A person also had to love a neighbor as himself. A neighbor is such a broad term, that I asked Jesus what type of people must a person love. The law from Moses' time isn't very specific.
At times, that loving others is harder than adoring the Lord, in my own estimation. I couldn't imagine being kind on purpose, to some people. Certain people don't seem to deserve any kindness and are ungrateful. Don't get me started on others who are hateful and negative. I want to live forever in Heaven, so I will attempt to be kind, but I cannot promise anything. For me to have any successful and pleasing results, God definitely has to be in this.
Lord, There are times I can't relate to loving my neighbor. I want to try. What can I do? In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
