2011-05-26 - Soon and Very Soon
Rev 19:4-6 And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sits on the throne saying, "Amen Hallelujah!" 5 And a voice came from the throne, saying, "Give praise to our God, all you His bond-servants, you who fear Him, the small and the great." 6 Then I heard something like the voice of a great multitude and like the sound of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, saying, "Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns. (NASB)
The title is from and old spiritual - Soon and Very Soon We are Going to See the King. In the Revelation to John the Apostle we are given glimpses into those final days of Earth as we know it. Babylon, the world system, is finally crushed and God's eternity is ushered in. Tonight after a very long day all I can consider is what an amazing day this will be. Even more stunning to my mind is that we will be part of this multitude.
In our own strength none of us is worthy to be there. I am mindful of my own failures. I will be happy to be the last in line. To have a seat at one of the tables will be more than my mind can comprehend. By the amazing grace of Christ Jesus He has poured out his forgiveness on anyone who will come - great or small. All are welcome.
In one of the parables a King plans a feast and sends out invitations. It is not unexpected for a few to have prior commitments, but one by one the responses came back with a variety of excuses not to attend. The King sent his people out to bring in anyone they would find from the surrounding countryside to attend the party.
Invite someone to church. They may surprise you. Isa 55
Grace & Peace,
