2011-05-02 - What Would Paul Say?
Timothy, my son, I give you this instruction in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by following them you may fight the good fight, (1 Timothy 1:18)
I could tell God had grand things in store for Timothy. Still I couldn't help but warn him of the dangers living apart from God. Timothy needed his faith in Christ intact. He needed to continue doing what is right, and not live a life of regret, in order to have a clear conscience. It may seem like a lot to endure, and I won't hide the fact that the costs of traveling along the Christian road is challenging, for those used by God.
There is no reason for Timothy to be another Hymenaeus or Alexander. These men knew right from wrong - and chose the wicked path - and as a result, strayed from God. I don't want Timothy or anyone else to become another statistic. No one should have to live a less than fulfilling life, on the outskirts from God, when they can reach their potential and live their destined life.
Timothy also needs to look out for Alexander the metalworker. That man's done me a great harm, and isn't too keen on God's message, and I am afraid he will set his sights on Timothy next.
Lord, I pray that Your children will stand firm in their faith, and may they not waiver in their convictions. May I never be susceptible to the charms of the enemy. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
What wonderful things do you hope God has in store for you?
