This past weekend, I tried out a new horse to show. My trainer, his assistant and the horse's owner all watched me ride before a big show, and all gave me advice on how to ride this particular horse. After more than a few frustrating trips around the warm-up pen, I shouted out, "TMI! Too much information!" I rode up to my trainer, jumped off the horse and said, "Just show me. Quit telling me - and show me - how to ride this horse."

Our information-crazed world is overloading us with data about every aspect of life. Information in itself is not bad, but too much is taxing our minds. We can read books, internet postings, magazines, listen to sermons on tapes, compact discs, watch and hear church services on television, radio, videotapes, compact discs, computer files and DVDs. We have all the information about Christianity we need, but what we really need, and most importantly what the world outside the confines of our faith needs, is interpretation. Just as I screamed to my trainer, "Show me!" The world is screaming to us, "Show me!" Stop telling me; start showing me the Christian life in action.

God is pressing on me in my own life to be more an interpreter of Christian living and less of just another information giver. I believe God wants all of us to do more interpreting and showing our faith in action. My Pastor recently defined obedience as "faith with feet." Well, amen to that. Until all the information and knowledge I gain is passed from my head, to my heart - and finally through my feet through my actions, then I am nothing more than a TMI Christian. I am full of information, but lack interpretation.

Father, help us to be obedient to Your Word, your information and to be interpreters who show the world how You want us to be. May we do this just as your Son Jesus showed us. In His name, Amen.
