Our longtime readers know that sometimes we feel led to present passages
with no commentary, simply presenting some of what the Bible has to say about
a topic. Tonight we present the Lord's instructions regarding the church
- both local catholic (as in the literal meaning, universal, not the
denomination). Today, all passages are from the New King James Version.
Hebrews 10:24-25 And let us consider one another in order
to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling
of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another,
and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Eph 5: 18-21 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is
dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to
one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody
in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all
things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
21 submitting to one another in the fear of God.
1 Cor 14: 27-28 27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there
be two or at the most three, each in turn, and let one interpret. But if
there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in church, and let him speak
to himself and to God
Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly
in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and
spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
1 Cor 12:20-26 But now indeed there are many members,
yet one body. 21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, I
have no need of you; nor again the head to the feet, I have no
need of you. 22 No, much rather, those members of the
body which seem to be weaker are necessary. 23 And those
members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow
greater honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty,
24 but our presentable parts have no need. But God composed
the body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it,
25 that there should be no schism in the body, but that the
members should have the same care for one another. 26 And
if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is
honored, all the members rejoice with it.
