2010-05-07 - No Time
I have a set time each weekday, at which I pause and read the Bible. Making it a scheduled part of my day generally keeps me on track. Yesterday was chaotic, so when my reminder went off, I thought, "I do not have time to read my Bible!" And I quickly dismissed it. I didn't hit snooze; I just blew it off. Later that day, I sat blankly at the screen, trying to figure out what I would write. I have a lot of nerve - telling God I don't have time for him and ignoring an appointment I had made - and then expecting him to show up when it was convenient for me. Graciously, he did show up but it was to convict me of blowing him off earlier.,
“… When thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments" (2 Timothy 4:13b)
Paul knew what was important. I know, but I deliberately chose to ignore it. Today, I will not ignore that appointment. Today, I will cherish my time with God in his word. How about you?
