2009-07-18 - Tears in Heaven:
2
Revelation 7:17, "For the Lamb in the center of the throne
shall be their Shepherd, and shall guide them to springs of the water
of life; and God shall wipe every tear from their eyes."
In the first consideration of this topic we looked mostly at the fact that
in this life we do have tears. It seems also that if God has promised to,
"wipe every tear from their eyes" then at least
when we enter Heaven it may be that we do so with tears. We will put aside
that this could mean than we will have tears of joy upon entering Heaven.
Let us consider that there are tears to be removed upon our entering Heaven.
God has promised in His Word to do it, and to do it personally. This is cause
for great joy regardless of our present circumstances in the here and now.
In light of all that has been said already, it might seem strange to say
that there will be no tears in Heaven. There is no longer any reason for
God's children to be in sorrow. Sin is gone, death is gone, shame is gone
and we are with other saints, angels and Christ. Nothing shall separate us
from fellowship with the Heavenly Host, Christ's love, and the bliss of Heaven.
There is no excess and no lack; all is perfect. No pain can ever be known
unto eternity. Why then is it said that God will wipe away their tears? I
think it simply shows that there will be no need for tears any longer. Our
bodies will be made whole but it seems that the tear gland will have another
use in Heaven. The sun is not hot in Heaven and the artic blasts are not
cold. Heaven is a glorious place, and say what we will, we cannot describe
it accurately. It cannot be but a place of ever new wonders and grandeurs.
All the evil that we know now, our struggles against sin, our weeping when
we fall into sin; they also will be gone. Perfect sanctification will be
ours and holiness will be given us in the righteousness of Christ imputed
to us. Satan will no longer be the tormentor that he is now. He will be chained
and thrown into the lake of fire
(Rev.
20:10). Heaven is a place of no adversaries. There will be no broken
friendships but all will be in harmony. What are we saying? There will be
no sin. Sin will be brought to an end and the need for tears will be no more.
One last consideration why there will be no need for tears in Heaven. Our
every desire will be granted/satisfied. Can you imagine? Today we know our
sinful desires and things that we are not supposed to think about and so
we cannot imagine that our every craving will be satisfied. This is because
we only know this life of sin mixed with grace. When sin is eradicated all
our yearnings will be after those things that are pleasing to God. We will
long for nothing but what God is pleased to give and so He will give what
we long for, without cost, limit, or qualification. Every desire, hope,
imagination will be all satisfied because all is sanctified. We will know
the delight of Christ and we will have no need of tears when there is nothing
to cry about. All is beauty, all is peace and all is Christ.
"Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard,
and which have not entered into the heart of man, all that God has prepared
for those who love Him," 1 Corinthians 2:9
