2009-06-15 - Heal: The Four-Letter Word
We Should Use
Mark
2:3-12
At times, it may be difficult to avoid hearing offensive four-letter words,
but there are some words God intended for blessing and peacefulness. Over
the next several weeks, we'll look at some four-letter words that can help
us stay more grounded, and learn more about God's goodness and the importance
of positiveness.
When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic,
"Son, your sins are forgiven." (Mark 2:5 NIV)
Every day, the paralyzed man had to depend on someone else for the slightest
thing. Not anymore. The man made up his mind; he was going to be well. No
more excuses, especially since Jesus had the power to heal.
When the paralyzed man came face to face with Jesus, He told the man his
sins were forgiven. The healing did not come without controversy. Some religious
leaders in attendance thought Jesus' actions were blasphemous, claiming only
God can forgive sins. Jesus wondered why it bothered the men so.
He proved His words, by telling the paralyzed man to pick up his stretcher
and go home. The man jumped up and pushed his way through the crowd. The
man pictured himself walking a million times, and that day, the dream finally
became a reality.
Lord, I am facing pain and in need of improved health,
I turn my attention to You and pray for my healing. In Jesus' name I pray,
Amen.
