2009-05-18 - Time to Forget
"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past."
(Isaiah 43:18 NIV) "
It is amazing what the brain recalls. We remember events from seconds ago
to many years past. There are things we choose to remember fondly - past
holidays, times with family and friends, and other moments we'd like to erase.
And while God in His sovereignty can certainly remember every detail of our
lives, He doesn't remind us of our past failings.
For as high as the heavens are above the Earth, so great
is his love for those who fear him; as far as the East is from the West,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion
on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;" (Psalm
103:11-13 NIV)
God's mind is always on us 24/7, better than an all-access TV channel, yet
He doesn't hold our flaws over our heads. Instead, He commands us to forget
the faults of yesterday, and to expect a new thing. He gives us permission
to let go and live again.
Lord, I turn over a new leaf today. In Jesus' name I
pray, Amen. I am so thankful to the Lord for providing grace and freedom,
liberty from the baggage of wrong thoughts and past mistakes.
