2009-05-04 - Surviving
Singlehood
1
Corinthians 7:26-37
Because of the present crisis, I think that it is good
for you to remain as you are. (1 Corinthians 7:26)
It all starts with a desire, the desire to be married or unmarried. Every
person has the same two choices: to be single or to be married. Regardless
of one's marital status, every person should be free of worry, and should
do what will help you serve the Lord the best, with the least distractions.
If you are on the road of singleness, it's wise to trust God as the navigator,
instead of resenting your current marital status. Perhaps the reason for
being single is not to show how independent you can be, but rather how obedient
you can be during the waiting period.
One's marital status doesn't define them. There comes a time when a person
has to stop wondering when their path will cross with their future spouse's.
It's best to abandon your own agenda for God's. The Lord knows everything
about us. He has watched our steps, and has a grand future in store for each
of us.
Lord, I pray that I can enjoy my life and see all the
positive things around me. May I see this time as a season of preparation,
preparing me to be the spouse You designed me to be. Thank You. In Jesus'
name I pray, Amen.
