2009-03-16 - Joshua 1:1-9
No one will be able to stand up against you all the days
of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave
you nor forsake you. (Joshua 1:5)
If Joshua listened to all God told him, how could he fail? The Lord bathed
Joshua with such wisdom and encouragement. Now that Moses was dead, it was
left to Joshua, his assistant, to bring the children of Israel into their
promised land. The task was momentous. God believed Joshua could lead the
people, and after listening to His cheering words, so must have Joshua.
As long as Joshua lived for God, He would be with him, just as He was with
Moses. God declared no man would be a match for Joshua, for he would be strong
and extremely courageous.
Joshua was acting as God's ambassador, to give the people the land of Israel.
He was to observe and obey the law as Moses commanded. He was also to mediate
on God's words, day and night. Joshua was not even to turn to the left or
right, but remain steady and straight on the course, then he would prosper
everywhere he went. Imagine, always finding success, and never having to
worry or have a mishap. What confidence God had in Joshua.
We too can find this assurance, when we choose to follow after the Lord.
If we follow God's plan, there is no way we can lose.
Lord, The real reason behind my prosperity and success
is You. I am eternally grateful. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
