2008-04-28 - Enoch: Where Are You?
Through Enoch's faith, he received eternal fellowship with the Lord. (Genesis 5:21-24, Hebrews 11:5-6, 13-15)
The men in Enoch's family historically lived long lives. Enoch's great-grandfather, father, and son all lived over 900 years. Enoch could look forward to a long, promising Earthly life, except he broke the family pattern by being taken up to Heaven at the ripe old age of 365! Because Enoch walked with God, he didn't experience death like most people. Instead, the Lord brought him directly to Heaven. His disappearance came without warning. It was such a sudden exit, that people searched for him, but looking skyward didn't occur to them.
There must have been something that set Enoch apart from others, that God wanted Enoch with Him in Heaven. Life is not what we usually anticipate it to be. When we walk with the Lord, He has a way of bringing things to pass that we would never plan or expect. As followers of Him, we accept His moving, for it is for our benefit and not our demise.
Lord, I never tire of singing Your praises. Your presence and power are awe-inspiring. May my life be an example how you love your people. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
