2008-02-05 - This Morning's Distractions
I woke up an hour before my alarm was set to go off. How I hate when that happens. I couldn't even blame it on the blaring sun coming into my room, as the sky was gray. I had a dream where I was given words of wisdom, but they were lost in the translation between my sleep and consciousness. By the way, hello God.
Breakfast consisted of a new cereal; I had a coupon for the product. It does not live up to its name, Temptations it's not. The food is a copycat of a popular breakfast cereal, but with pecans added to throw cereal eaters off guard. The morning's events had a way of grabbing my attention. I needed to settle my mind before I got bogged down with the details of the upcoming day. I meditated on words found in the Old Testament. "Listen to his instructions, and store them in your heart. You will pray to him, and he will hear you, and you will fulfill your vows to him." (Job 22: 22, 27 NLT)
Lord, May I follow Your will today. I am eager to take the first step, which is to listen. By listening, I have confidence that You will reveal the plans You've designed for me. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
