Chapter 10: Part 1 ~ Installment 77
Still To Come
As we have recently gone through Daniel, we have discovered what is still
to come for this world. There are a number of ways to understand the prophetic,
but what follows is the least problematical approach. Daniel saw that first,
some kind of ten-nation confederacy will rise up out of the old Roman Empire.
And out of this group will come the Antichrist. At the beginning of the
Tribulation period, he will sign a treaty with the nation Israel, which will
appear to bring her peace. But three-and-a-half years later, Antichrist will
break the treaty, stop the sacrifice at the rebuilt temple, and set up the
"Abomination of Desolation."
Behind the scenes is where the real battle is occurring - the battle between
the forces of the Lord and those of Satan. And although the outcome is already
decided - Satan's defeat - the battle continues. This is the warfare that
breaks out so visibly during the Tribulation. It is also the battle that
every Christian is engaged in.
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but
against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark
world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the Heavenly realms"
(Ephesians 6:12).
Now the seven-year period, the Tribulation, will be a time of suffering for
the world at large, and the Jewish people specifically. Remember that Jesus
said of this time:
"If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive,
but for the sake of the elect, those days will be shortened" (Matthew
24:22).
But Antichrist will be defeated, and the Messiah will return to establish
His kingdom and bring a true peace to the world, for a time and for eternity
To be continued.
